"hoping to find some comfort there, yearning to feel free"

Lovin' on a Monday.

Things I'm diggin' right now:

-- The fact that my mp3 player is not, in fact, in need of replacement
-- Winning
-- The hot red pants I got at Express (and the fact that I got $25 off)
-- Sarah McLachlan's "Wintersong"
-- The fact that my first bonus ever may appear on this Friday's paycheck
-- The Kenneth Cole boots (in black and brown, claro) that I got on sale at Macy's
-- My sushi-and-a-show outing tomorrow night with one of my favorite gal pals*
-- Clinique skincare
-- People who are NOT kissing Senator Obama's ass**
-- "Christmas Crack" (otherwise known as peppermint bark)
-- A slow week at work
-- Coffee--in large quantities
-- The fact that 2007 is three weeks away (which means the enactment of the DC smoking ban AND the end of a very tedious project at the office)

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

* This used to read "my sushi-and-a-show girl-date," but too many people read it as "sushi-and-a-showgirl date." As of now, none of our plans involve a showgirl. I will let you know if that changes.

** Please do not misunderstand--I think the Senator from Illinois is a swell guy (at least, he seems so from my admittedly limited vantage point). However, it is December of 2006, and the man has only spent one full term in Congress, and I'm already tired of hearing about his potential presidential aspirations. Let's see what he accomplishes in his sophomore stint on the Hill before we jump on the "Barack Bandwagon" and assume that he will be the next Commander in Chief. Sheesh.

I read that as "sushi and a showgirl" night, and thought, wow, Betty Joan sure is living the life! ;)

Haha...nice! No showgirls are planned at the present moment, but I suppose anything is possible. :-)

Ha, I read it the same way. I just asked Jeanette, "What is Betty talking about with the 'sushi and a showgirl' date? I thought maybe you and Mr. Anthrope were going out for sushi before dropping by Camelot or something.

Okay, the sentence has been changed to avoid the appearance of any showgirl-related impropriety. It's a good thing I have such a sweet ass to make up for my lousy wording. ;-)

I have to agree about Obamamania. The guy gives ONE speech at an election convention and he's suddenly the second coming of JFK. What the fuck? He's not ready for the office by a long shot.

I say the same thing about him that I say about Hillary--the country is more than ready for a black or female president. Just not either of them.

Oh, and I demand to see the red hot pants in action at the first opportunity. ;)

Martin: See, you're much less cynical then I am--I don't know that the country is ready for a black or female president. I suppose our hypotheses will be tested all too often in the near future.

And, just so there's no confusion (a la the previously mentioned showgirl snafu), I said "hot red pants" and not "red hotpants." Subtle (but important) difference. :-)

See, I'm sure those pants will, in fact look red-hot on the winner of the Best Blog Buns award, so I hold true to my statement. ;)

As far as optimism, I held fast to my belief that the country would grow sick of six years of the Worst Government Ever, and I was rewarded. I'm definitely on a roll now. :)
