"hoping to find some comfort there, yearning to feel free"

I am SO over it.

Seriously, August just needs to get the hell gone.

Brazilian folk supersition associates the month of August with bad luck--they call it "the month of misfortune." Among other things, August has the worst weather (regardless of hemisphere, since it is the equivalent of February), and everyone knows that it is the most barren sports month of the year. Ann Frank wrote her last diary entry in August, and it was August when the first A-bomb was dropped. There is no United States holiday in August, but it was the month in which the Berlin Wall went up and Saddam Hussein's troops invated Kuwait. Babe Ruth, Princess Diana, Marilyn Monroe, and Elvis Presley all died in August.

So, in short, August blows. It's time for a new month, a new school year, a new TV season, a new football season, a new weather pattern--a new everything.

I promise, when I wake up tomorrow and it is September, I'll be in a much better mood.

* Thanks to Wonkette for the shout-out--that makes three, baby!

Haha...good call. I should have mentioned that your b-day is the one shining star in an otherwise bleak month! :-)

Oh my goodness, how could I forget that not one, but TWO of my favorite gals were born in August! I may have to retract my post now... :-)
